This is a 1977 Ducati 900 Super Sport (titled as a 1976) that was sent to me from Virginia by it's long term owner who complained that it was getting very difficult to start, didn't like to idle, brakes were less that adequate and handling was sub par. He sent it out to me saying to fix everything so it worked again and was easier to ride. "Please do what you see fit if it were your bike - give it the Steve Allen touch"
So I organized shipping to my shop via Daily Direct and started taking things apart. 1st up was getting rid of the Lucas Rita ignition and installing a new Sachse Electronic digital ignition, fabricating a mount bracket for the black box and hanging a pair of DYNA 3 ohm coils. I pulled both heads to blueprint them re shimming the bevel gears and of course the desmo valve shims. R&R new dash adding new LED dash ight kit. I rebuilt the forks, carbs, brakes, added Galfer SS hoses, new chain & sprockets, new Dunlop tires, lubricated swing arm & steering head bearings, made a new neutral light wire harness, repaired a broken fin on the front cylinder, repaired gas cap, removed and reinstalled the vinyl seat cover so it fit tight again, replaced misc gaskets and seals on the motor, installed a K&N motor vent filter with new black hose, new gear gazer, R&R motor oil and filter, repair tach drive and replace seal, install new throttle and cables, R&R kickstart spring in lever, installed new exhaust system including CONTI mufflers, new speedo drive and AGM battery, rebuild labyrinth with new crush washer and seal, and took the bike over to get the motor dry ice blasted which removed all oil and residue. New battery strap & tray, attended to several wire connectors that were questionable, de rusted gas tank, new taps & cavis benz fuel hose......
Probably a bunch of other things which I am not recalling at the moment.
