Starter Sprag Bearing
079950195 - For all electric start Ducati bevel drive twins [except early Ducati Elettrotecnica ignition bikes as there is no sprag present] - also fits all Pantah, F1, Paso, Early SS belt drive...
The bottom line is that everything 1997 and older with the 2 wire single phase gen this will fit.
** This will NOT fit any 3 wire gen 3 phase 1999 and newer fuel injected model, nor will it fit any of the final edition models 1998 and newer. Clear? This is the weak link between starter and engine..... Usually what fails and the cause of all that coffee-grinder noise or the starter's failure to spin up the motor. Original DUCATI branded sprags are no longer available - these are different to original but fit and work the same.
NOTE: When you go to install your new one, make sure the surfaces it runs on are not damaged at all, especially the ring gear as rough ridges there can make the bearing lock up or skip & damage the rollers - also make sure your carbies are fully sync'd and when you start your engine, keep a light finger on the starter button as a backfire now is what will also kill a sprag.
If you have an electric start Ducati - check out the price for getting 2 or more of them... The first one for the posted price and if you want a 2nd you get it for only $117 extra - such a bargain. Or get your friends together and get a few for even more savings.....
INSTALLATION NOTES: Make sure it is in the right way when you install it. With the flywheel in your hand and sprag bearing installed (looking at the back of it), drop the drive gear in and it should catch when you rotate it (the drive gear) counter clockwise.
