DUCATI 350/500cc. parallel twins camshaft oiling failure fix
- Disconnect fuel lines and remove gas tank
- Remove both spark plugs
- Turn engine to TDC on RH cylinder with both valves closed (compression stroke)
- Remove intake and exhaust valve covers
- Disconnect tachometer cable and remove RH bearing cap
- On RH cylinder only, back off valve clearances on the rocker arms, then pull out rocker arm pins and remove rocker arms, put the shim washers and rocker arm (back in the same place as they were) on the rocker pins awaiting final assembly
- Remove RH camshaft while leaving cam chain sprocket and chain in place
- Put oil on the O-rings before assembly
- Insert billet piece with O-rings into the RH camshaft
- Insert both into the cam chain sprocket, it can only go back in one way (self-aligning)
- Replace rocker arms and pins and re-adjust clearances (don’t mix up intake and exhaust parts)
- Replace cam bearing cap and tachometer cable
- Replace both valve covers and spark plugs
