This kit contains a replacement sprag gear, a lightened flywheel, and a new/larger diameter sprag bearing.
This kit is suitable for all Ducati PANTAH based motors meaning, rubber band driven cams, rear carb behind head. Also fits all version F1, SL, TL, Paso, Alla'Azurra, 851, 888.....
The VEE TWO Sprag Clutch Kit replaces Items 22, 24 and 26 in the parts diagram and item 23 is not used.
Advantages - The lightened flywheel enables the engine to rev freely and therefore faster, the larger/stronger sprag bearing increases the torque loading, durability and life of the starter kit.
Why This Kit? If your sprag bearing Ducati #0799.50.195 (079950195) is giving up the ghost, this kit will fix you right up. This is a long term, heavy duty solution to a very common problem which is a very weak link between starter motor and engine on bevel drive twins. Ducati ran out of the original sprag bearings around 2001. The sprag bearing Bevel Heaven has been selling is a close match to the original but has 1 less prawl and is considered weaker than the original. It has been the ONLY option out there for over a decade and, we are VERY low on these particular sprags. When we sell the last one, that's it - no more - ever... So, Brook Henry at Vee Two has engineered a perfect solution by improving everything regarding the starter sprag with this kit. It contains both items which the sprag bearing grips on the inside and outside. It also includes a much heavier duty sprag bearing than the orignal. Put all 3 items which were specifically engineered to work together in our bevel drive twins and VOILA - no more starter sprag dramas.
